The Role: Hospice Aide Responsibilities
As a Hospice Aide, you will be an integral part of our compassionate team, providing hands-on care to patients and their families. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Personal Care: Attending to personal care needs, such as bathing, back rubs, oral hygiene, and changing bed linens.
- Support for Patients: Assisting patients with dressing, undressing, and ambulation as per instructions from the hospice nurse or therapist.
- Nutritional Support: Planning and preparing nutritious meals, including shopping and feeding the patient as needed.
- Skin Care: Monitoring patients’ skin condition and providing care to prevent breakdown, especially over bony prominences.
- Observations and Reporting: Documenting patient care, observing changes in the patient's condition, and reporting significant changes to the Case Manager.
- Additional Tasks: Offering assistance with bedpans, urinals, light laundry needs, and helping with exercises as instructed.
Qualifications and Requirements
We are seeking candidates who meet the following criteria:
- Completion of state-required training, with a minimum of 75 hours of classroom and practical training.
- A compassionate understanding of hospice care and the terminally ill.
- Ability to follow written instructions and document care provided.
- Empathy and patience in caring for the ill, injured, frail, and impaired.
- At least 18 years of age and able to work independently.
